One made psychology enjoyable, the other made it demanding and challenging. It was the latter who ended up having the greatest influence on me as a professional. In my doctoral studies, my dissertation chair gave me many opportunities to learn and grow professionally. Why you do what you do: I enjoy sharing what I know and helping others master important skills, especially when they begin with little confidence in their abilities. What you want to give to your students? A challenge at which they can succeed. A way of seeing themselves as professionals who can add to the knowledge of their profession. The joy of a difficult task mastered. Why are you at UL Lafayette: When asked why he had become a bank robber, Willie Sutton replied- "Why do I rob banks? That's where the money is." A favorite quote or anecdote: Albert Einstein was often asked to explain the general theory of relativity. "Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour," he once declared. "Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity!" Curriculum Vita |
