What do you love about UL Lafayette?
There is a great deal I value about this university. Being a graduate of UL and now a faculty member, I cherish the opportunity to pave the way for students like myself to achieve their potential.

Area of Scholarship or Expertise:
Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Psychological Issues in Chronic Medical Conditions

Courses routinely taught:
Theories of Counseling

A published work:
see Publications from CV

What is your hometown and what is unique about it? :
Pecan Island, LA- there are many unique things about it- there is definitely no other place like it.

What was your first job? What did you learn from it?
This is tough because I can always remember having some type of job. What I do feel about jobs/work is to take pride in your work no matter what you do, whether it is cleaning toilets, mowing grass, or lecturing to graduate students (all of which I have done).

Work of art, literature, or music that you would recommend:
They change with time; right now I am interested in the life of Viktor Frankl. I find it inspiring that someone could survive what he did and still maintain his love of life. So I guess I would recommend his writings.

Person you'd like to meet:
Albert Bandura, Aaron Beck

Why you do what you do:
Ever since I began college as an undergraduate, I knew I had found an environment to which I was well suited. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my work including working with undergraduates and graduate students, helping them to pursue and achieve their own personal goals.

A favorite quote or anecdote:
They also change for me with time, but right now I am exploring the work of Milton H. Erikson, and this one hit home with my role as a parent:
“ You see, we don’t know what our goals are. We learn our goals only in the process of getting there… You don’t know what the baby is going to become. Therefore, you wait and take good care of it until it becomes what it will."
Milton H. Erickson, M.D., 1979
