What do you love about UL Lafayette?
Wonderful colleagues, supporting environment, southern hospitality, state-of-the art facilities in my lab, and plenty of beautiful oak and pine trees.

Area of Scholarship or Expertise:
acoustic analysis of infant vocalizations, preverbal communication, infant emotional regulation, physiological correlates of emotions, pediatric dentistry

Advanced Developmental Psychology

Lin, H.-C., & Green, J. A. (2006). The effects of posture on newborn crying. Infancy, 11, 175-189.

Current Project:
1. Theory of mind in children with autism: Responses beyond words.
2. Coordination of expressive behaviors in children with autism.

What is your hometown and what is unique about it?

Taipei, Taiwan. A combination of modern and traditional ways of life. The food is great!!

What was your first job and what did you learn from it?
Pediatric Dentistry (for 10 years). I learned the enormous complexity of development. I also learned to appreciate the individual differences and become much more patient and understanding towards both children and their parents.

Outside Interests:
Music / piano playing /Cooking

JS Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier

Person who influenced you the most:
My parents

Why you do what you do:
I do what I do because I love it. I love learning with my colleagues and my students. They are my greatest teachers. It is enriching not only for professional development, but also for my personal growth.

Person you would like to meet:
Gilbert Gottlieb, who shaped a paradigm in animal developmental psychology and informed human development through an epigenetic systems view.

What do you want to give your students?
A training experience that promotes critical thinking and an integrative approach to real life by integrating different forms of knowledge.

Why you are at UL Lafayette:
To contribute what I have while I learn and grow. UL Lafayette has granted me the greatest freedom to attain such goal.
